ART AND SCIENCE OF PERIODONTAL AND PERI-IMPLANT PLASTIC SURGERY FOR OPTIMAL SOFT TISSUE ESTHETICS

ABSTRACT
Esthetics is the primary focus of contemporary dentistry. Therefore, achieving optimal soft tissue contours, both around natural teeth and implants, is the goal of any comprehensive esthetic treatment. In this course, participants, starting with an understanding of the biology of periodontal and peri-implant soft tissue, will learn how to perform up-to-date surgical techniques to achieve excellence in clinical soft tissue management. Tips and tricks will be highlighted, and the surgeries will be performed directly by participants on simulation models.

PROGRAM

DAY 1:

• Etiology and prevention of gingival recessions
• Classification and clinical prognosis
• Fundamentals of Periodontal Plastic Surgery
• The Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) for single and multiple recessions
• LIVE/VIDEO Surgery

DAY 2:

• The Connective Tissue Graft (CTG): conventional techniques and envelope / tunnel techniques
• Harvesting techniques from palate and tuberosity
• 2–Stage techniques : Free Gingival Graft (FGG) followed by CAF
• LIVE/VIDEO Surgery
• HANDS ON: different CAF, CTG , FGG and harvesting techniques

DAY 3:

• From periodontal to periimplant tissues: biology and clinical implications
• Factors affecting soft tissue contours around implants
• Prevention of soft tissue complications around implants: surgical techniques
• Treatment of soft tissue defects around restored implants: surgical techniques for recessions, volume defects and lack of keratinized tissue
• LIVE/VIDEO Surgery
• HANDS ON: different surgical techniques to improve soft tissue thickness/keratinized tissue and to cover recessions around implants
